(More customer reviews)While more expensive jackets are available, I'm confident the Portage Glacier Down can match them in warmth. As a matter of fact, it almost gets too warm if intense physical activity is conducted while wearing this jacket. It's of generous cut, and feels quite comfortable. I appreciate that I have full range of motion while wearing this - it's not constricting in the least. I've only had a it a couple of days, and I cannot vouch for durability yet, but it does feel fairly resistant to any tears or rips. My former winter jacket was also a Columbia, and it served me quite well over the years.
Positives:
Good build quality.
Excellent warmth.
Generous length - I'm 6'2, and the XL fits me perfectly.
Roomy pockets.
Negatives:
Almost too warm - if you intend to be very active, this jacket may cause you to overheat.
The fur on the hood is faintly ridiculous. It does feel comfortable however.

When it's so brutally cold outside that you just ate your last can of tuna rather than run out to the grocery store, it's time to call on this bonanza of heavy-duty warmth. 14 ounces of 550-fill duck down stand between you and the icy elements, as well as an Omni-Heat thermal reflective lining, which boosts heat retention by an average of 20 percent. It's made from a rugged, heavyweight polyester blend that lends uncompromising protection and a bulletproof, urban-bomber feel. The longer cut combines with cozy inner comfort cuffs to ward off the biting wind. Omni-Shield advanced repellency keeps wet weather out, while removable faux fur around the collar adds a final arctic flourish.
