(More customer reviews)Best jacket I own. This jacket has been everywhere with me and has withstood everything that was thrown at it. The gore-tex is completely waterproof. Well, not completely waterproof. After 15 minutes testing the jacking in the shower, a couple drops leaked through the main zipper. I would consider this an extreme situation and am fully confident in the waterproofness in any real world situation.
The length is perfect for me. The Beta was too short and didn't provide enough coverage. The fit overall is a little bit large. I'm 5'11 185lbs and bought a medium. I normally wear a large in TNF gear. This allowed me to fit a couple layers under while still being able to move around comfortably but not swimming in it if I'm just wearing one layer. The hood is a little large because of its helmet compatibility.
The quality is what I've come to expect from Arc'teryx and i believe it will last a long time. I believe the jacket I have is made in Canada and the construction is solid. The full retail price is a bit steep and I wouldn't have gotten it if I didn't find it on sale. I believe you can find some cheaper alternatives that do almost or just as well. However, if you want the best and are willing to spend some money, look no further than the Arc'teryx Theta AR

If extended trips or a job as a guide place you in the outdoors no matter the weather, a tough, storm proof jacket, like the newly redesigned Arc'teryx Theta AR for Men is a necessity. Featuring GORE-TEX: Pro Shell, a fabric that breathes better, lasts longer, and is even lighter than anything else on the market today, and offers a greater level of comfort and packability. Decorated with features to satisfy even the most hardcore mountaineer or backcountry skier, the Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket remains amazingly light by employing industry leading innovations, such as micro seam allowances and tiny GORE-TEX: seam taping. Waist and hem drawcords, articulated elbows, and no-lift gusseted underarms allow for full range of motion while blocking cold drafts and spindrift. Laminated zippers and bonded soft grommets contribute to the jacket's supple feel, and the one hand pull cords are exceedingly convenient when one hand is busy tending to a belay.
