(More customer reviews)After a drenching rain with my older Patagonia jacket, I had to purchase a new one. The Sierra Design Hurricane version is an amazing bargain. The price is right and it isn't water-resistant - it's waterproof! The jacket is doubled stitched 100% nylon, yet there are two arm-pit zipper flaps to allow for breathing. The zippers are those heavy duty plastic that won't ever bind on you. There are also three large nylon mesh pockets accessible from the outside and inside. The hood and waist both have adjustable tightening straps that can be pulled tight with one hand. The wrists can be tightened with Velcro flaps and the hood can be drawn tight to allow just your nose and eyes to be visible. Best of all, it compresses into its fist-sized carry bag with a tightening strap.
For kicks, there is even a "conversion chart" inside the jacket for temperature (Centigrade and Fahrenheit), length, weight, volume and distance in both English and Metric. Available in only black and red, unfortunately.
