Sub Zero SL Hooded Jacket - Men's by Mountain Hardwear Review

Sub Zero SL Hooded Jacket - Men's by Mountain Hardwear

The Sub-Zero is a great mid-range parka. It's not an 8000 meter jacket (get something like the Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero or the Marmot 8000M for that), but it will keep you warm at the top of Raineer and in most weather conditions you'll face in the contiguous U.S. What makes this parka great for mountaineers and cold-weather hikers is the weight. It is extremely light given the protection it affords. That makes this a nice parka for mountaineers who may be required to backpack for a few hours in warm weather prior to ascending to locations that require cold-weather protection. There are a lot of niceties too, like the large, internal water-bottle pocket so your water doesn't freeze during a cold trek. The parka compresses well and the hood removes too, so I can wear it to work without like I stepped off the top of Everest. I cannot profess the durability as I have only owned it for about six months, but it's Mountain Heardwear, which means it's likely to be above average. All-in-all, a well-made product.

Marmot Cauldron Insulated Jacket - Men's Review

Marmot Cauldron Insulated Jacket - Men's

We have been using this jacket at -14 Celsius for 6 days and whoa momma we're impressed. Snow, wind and still warm, all we had under was a tank top with a thin (summer sweater). The jacket is also true to size. If you are broad shouldered you should probably go with one size larger though, my BF would normally fit a large but had to get an XL because his shoulders are quite wide. I wish this model came with a hood and was just a wee bit longer but that's a personal preference. It it exactly what it was advertised to be, a comfortable and very warm winter jacket.

The Mountain Hardwear Men's Sub Zero SL Hooded Jacket surrounds you with 650-fill down for the coldest possible conditions this winter. Mountain Hardwear's most popular down jacket, the Sub Zero SL is cloaked in Conduit SLthe company's proprietary water resistant, breathable fabric, allowing you to wear the Sub Zero SL skiing in drier climates and cruising around town while those fat flakes pile up. The seams in the baffles are not sewn-through, much like a high-quality sleeping bag. This means there is no true separation of the insulation at the seams, so you stay warmer and more comfortable, without the cold spots common in sewn-through down garments. The hood is detachable, and the fleece-lined collar and hand pockets keep you extra comfortable. An interior mesh water-bottle pocket is super handy for backcountry excursions, and of course, Mountain Hardwear's quality is legendarythere are few companies that match their excellence.Product Features
