(More customer reviews)I've worn a bunch of different Carhartt jackets over the years. This is one of the workhorse models. It's been around forever and it is very reasonably priced. It's also rugged as hell and will last forever. There are a couple of important things to note about them, however.
1) Unlike other Carhartt jackets, these jackets SHRINK A LOT! Make sure you get yours at least 1 or preferrably 2 sizes large. It may sound extreme but these jackets really do shrink - which is weird considering their other jackets don't shrink much, if at all.
2) The sizes run a little bit smaller than other Carhartt jackets. Considering it is supposed to stop at your waste (to allow easy bending/moving at work) it is important to take this into consideration when buying this specific coat.
3) These jackets are thicker than the J97 jackets. Although they look almost identical, this jacket is noticeably thicker throughout. This is due to the thicker recycled lining that they put inside.
4) This jacket is priced very well compared to others. If you're a knock-around type of guy looking for a work jacket you really won't find a better jacket at a better price.
5) The sleeves on this jackets are shorter than the J97 and other similar jackets. I have long arms for my size and these fit just right. Other Carhartt jackets tend to have longer sleeves than I need - which is considerable seeing as how I have long arms.
6) The tall size is different than the normal size in two ways. First the jacket is taller (duh). The sleeves are also considerably longer. If you are tall with short or average length arms I would try these jackets on before ordering a tall size online. A person ordering a tall size jacket would have to have extremely long arms for the tall size to fit properly.
7) This jacket is meant to rest right below your belt. This is to allow for easy bending and shifting. If you're looking for a jacket that extends past your waist you'll want to look into a different jacket.

One hard-working garment, our duck detroit jacket is constructed of rugged 12-ounce, 100% cotton duck, and features a blanket lining in the body and quilted nylon lining in the sleeves. there's a corduroy top collar with under-collar snaps to attach an optional hood. inside, there's a welt pocket and outside there are two large front pockets and a zippered left-chest pocket. the waist and cuffs are snap adjustable, and the bi-swing back makes for easier movement.
